The Fountain Concept
An introduction to the work of Fountain International
One evening in the summer of 1981, a group of some 20 people with varying interests in healing gathered at the Brighton home of the inspirational healer, dowser and author Colin Bloy. Although a number of these people had met up before to carry out healing work, many were meeting for the first time. It was at this meeting that Colin Bloy, who had carried out considerable research into Spiritual and Earth energies for many years, put forward the idea that healing should be taken a step further – from one-to-one healing and distant healing of individuals, to healing the place and the community where they live.
At first there was a lot of discussion about whether they should concentrate on special buildings such as the hospitals, the Police Station, the Town Hall, etc, but they were firmly guided not to concentrate on individual buildings, and instead to direct their healing to a central point and to allow the energy to do what it needed to do.
There was also a discussion as to how the healing should be performed – should it be at a certain time of the day? Should they gather into groups to make the healing more powerful? Could they do it by themselves at any time of the day? It was decided that it could be done in all three ways – those who wanted to join together would set a certain time each day and all would tune in at that time, those who wanted to meet up in groups (weekly, fortnightly, or monthly) would do so, and those who preferred to work alone could send healing whenever it suited their particular circumstances.
The chosen method was to be very simple – they would take as the focal point the Fountain in the Old Steine in Brighton, and concentrate their thoughts on this point, perhaps only for two or three minutes, and see what happened. An inauguration day was set, and over 100 volunteers including a number of known healers in the Brighton area attended the ceremony at the Fountain in the Old Steine on St Michael’s Day, 29 September 1981. At this gathering Colin Bloy guided the group in a meditation to direct white light, which they symbolised as Pure Love, towards their chosen focal point and for it to spread outwards into the community.
Prior to the event, the dowsers in the group had measured the strength and width of the earth energy currents going through the fountain. Following the ceremony they checked to see if anything had changed, and to their amazement and delight the number of bands and the power of the lines at the fountain had multiplied astronomically. This level later settled down to a more recognisable level after the energies had spread out into the form of a black and white grid pattern. This grid pattern has been seen to repeat itself at many other sites where healing has taken place, and in Fountain work has come to be known as the ‘chequerboard’.
The fact is that a group of people had gathered together to direct healing energy to one particular focal point, and something palpable and measurable had actually happened!
Thus the ‘Fountain Group’ was officially inaugurated – ‘to promote the natural healing of people and communities through the use of Spiritual and Earth energies’.
During the following weeks and months the healing energy gradually built up and spread throughout Brighton, and beyond. Indeed, the effects were startling – recorded crime rates decreased, and an increase in people’s sense of wellbeing was recorded by residents and visitors alike.
The beauty of the Fountain Concept is that it has always been very simple …
The method is to visualise daily the earth energy coming up from beneath your focal point, and pure white light coming down to it from above, and as these forces meet and merge, imagine the healing energy spreading out into the surrounding areas, healing the landscape, the people, the animals – all forms of life, and spreading out until it encompasses the whole Earth.
This simple practice, in which all are welcome to join, will increase the wellbeing not only of your own particular area, but of the world.
Following this inauguration, the Fountain Group grew in size, spread to a number of countries abroad, and later became Fountain International.
Fountain International has always been open to everyone, of whatever faith, nationality, colour, race, political persuasion, etc. It has no official membership … save those who simply know that they belong. It has no rivals … because it is non-competitive. It is not ambitious … because it only seeks to serve.
Fountain International is more an ‘idea’ than an organisation, and because there is no official structure, each member, or group of members, works independently of the others, just carrying out the healing work that is needed to change communities, countries, and the World.
